Privacy Policy
Target software: FluffDrop (macOS) · Last updated: 2026-07-07
This privacy policy explains how FluffDrop (the "Software") handles user information. The Software is a macOS menu bar app for sending files from an iPhone / Android / PC browser to a Mac over the same Wi-Fi network, and it is used to receive and store files locally on the user's own Mac. The Software is developed and distributed by Kusumoto Masahiro (the "Developer").
1. Personal information collected
The Software does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information. There is no account registration or login feature, and it includes no analytics SDK, ad SDK, crash reporting, or any other third-party tracker.
2. How file receiving works
The Software starts an HTTP server locally on the user's own Mac and receives files directly from an iPhone / Android / PC browser on the same Wi-Fi network. This communication takes place directly between the sending device and the Mac, and does not pass through any server operated by the Developer or a third party. Received files are saved only to ~/Downloads/FluffDrop/ and are never sent externally.
3. Storage of receive history
The receive history (file name, size, and received date/time) is stored only locally in UserDefaults on the user's own Mac, and up to the most recent 100 entries are kept. Identifying information such as the IP address of the sending device is not recorded. This history is never sent to the Developer or any third party.
4. Storage of logs
The Software stores logs from automatic updates via Homebrew only in ~/Library/Logs/FluffDrop/update.log on the user's own Mac. These logs are never sent to the Developer or any third party.
5. Automatic update feature
On launch, the Software sends an HTTPS request to GitHub Releases (kusumotoa/fluffdrop-releases) to check for a new version. This request contains no information that identifies the user. Updates are applied via Homebrew (brew upgrade --cask).
6. Provision to third parties
Because the Software does not collect any personal information or data from users, no provision to third parties occurs.
7. Cookies and tracking technologies
The Software is a native macOS app and does not use cookies or any other tracking technologies.
8. Disclaimer
The Software is provided as-is and free of charge. The Developer does not warrant the operation of the Software and assumes no responsibility for any damages arising from its use.
9. Changes to this policy
If this privacy policy is changed, an updated version will be posted on this page and the last updated date will be revised.
